Renee Irving Lee was invited to speak about her writing journey at Peregian Springs SS Writers Festival in late February. Her talk was very inspiring for the adults (teachers and parents) in the audience especially those who are budding authors themselves. I recommend her as a speaker and was impressed by her research into contemporary issues such as bullying and domestic violence and the way in which she actively breaks stereotypes when she develops her characters. I have read her first picture book to the Preps and they loved it. Can’t wait for a copy of the second book!
